Toy House

In this supernatural thriller/horror, a multiple homicide has been committed. A by-the- book sergeant, DALE, as a gesture of support, turns the reins over to a burned-out cop TIM. Tim has been on the beat far too long and knows that a successful investigation will turn his career around.

The only surviving witness is a child, ANNIE. Tim must repeatedly interview this clever little girl and get the facts necessary to solve the killings. Tim is so awestruck by her happy-go-lucky, casual manner, that he believes she may be behind these murders. Hearing this, Dale clashes with Tim, upset that he may botch this investigation by going down the wrong path.

The interviews reveal that Annie’s parents died and she was turned over to foster parents NELLIE and CHUCK who are mainly interested in the money fostering provides. They mistreat and abuse Annie and regularly lock her up in a crawl space that was designated as a toy house. Annie hates her foster parents, tries to escape, is caught and once again is thrown into the crawl space. There is no way out. As a way to make more money, Nellie and Chuck force a despondent Annie to be a drug runner.

As a result of the interviews with Annie, Tim pursues leads. First a drug lord and then two thugs who previously beat up on Nellie and Chuck, but these clues go nowhere. Meanwhile, Dale pressures Tim and cautions him to come up with answers quickly otherwise his career is finished.

During a birthday party for Nellie, she receives 5 vintage stuffed toys as gifts, a TEDDY BEAR, MONKEY, BUNNY, DOGGY and PIGGY. Annie is taken by these life-like toys who become her best friends and as she believes are there to protect her.

One night Nellie and Chuck and guests GORD and MARGIE are attacked. Bitten and cut up, Nellie blames a helpless Annie for the assault. To prevent Annie from repeating the assault the next night, she is tied to her bed with her bedroom door locked. However, that horrific night a hideous and ghastly attack takes place. Nellie, Chuck, Gord and Margie covered in blood are stabbed to death.

Tim is alarmed by Annie’s reference to the toys as the culprits. Tim investigates further and discovers that an eccentric WOMAN placed a spell on the toys to grant them the power to fight evil. Shocked and bewildered by what he has discovered, he shares his findings with Dale. She removes him from the case and orders him to take a medical leave. Instead, he resigns. Tim visits Annie again. She tells him that she has been turned over to another set of foster parents. Both understand that they have more in common than they first realized and need to be together. They sneak out of the hospital and smiling at one another, take off.
