Lose It Inc.

Our protagonist SEAN CARTER is on a mission to change his life by losing 60 pounds, a requirement spelled out by his family doctor and friend, FRANK. Sean is determined to try every method available, working out, B12 injections, a self-help group, hypnosis, a weight loss reality show and supplements, to reach his target. But he has no success. Ready to concede defeat, he continues to complain to his bartender friend JEFF.

 

A mysterious LADY, who regularly sits at the end of Jeff’s bar sipping her glass of wine, decides to leave a card for Sean.  Sean who has noticed this lady but never met her receives the card from Jeff. It reads: LOSE IT INC. 555-555-1111.

 

In the meantime, the nation’s HEALTH SECRETARIAT at a reporters’ meeting has declared a war on obesity and will launch an extensive campaign to tackle this devastating health problem which is draining valuable government health care dollars and private sector benefits plans.

 

While the nation’s war on obesity and Sean’s battle of the bulge continue, people’s homes are being invaded by masked marauders, who hold down their victims and cut off parts of their bodies, mainly fingers. But nothing appears in the media, nor are there police investigations to uncover the reason for this rash of bizarre, violent actions against the public.

 

Out of desperation Sean attends Lose It Inc. but again with no success. It is after this fateful involvement that Sean’s world begins to unravel. One evening, Sean, finally convinced that he is unable to lose his 60 pounds, enters his apartment after munching and drinking at the bar. Without warning he is grabbed, held down by 4 men wearing balaclavas and his finger is sliced off.  

 

After losing his finger, he rushes to the hospital emergency department where he notices an attending DOCTOR has a finger missing. Perplexed and terrified, he runs to the police station where he detects that the STAFF SERGEANT has a finger missing.

 

As his paranoia escalates, Sean goes on a quest to discover the reason behind this sudden epidemic of lost body parts. The story twists and turns as we are taken on a roller coaster ride to uncover a plot that can be only be labeled as astonishing and staggering and will be more than Sean bargained for.
